About this tour

Departs from Yerevan at 08:30․

Etchmiadzin is one of those places in Armenia where the country’s Christian history is not only seen, but felt. The journey begins at Saint Hripsime Church, continues to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Mother Cathedral — the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church — and then to Saint Gayane Church. The Mother Cathedral preserves some of the Armenian Church’s most important sacred relics, including the Holy Lance, the Right Hand of Saint Gregory the Illuminator, the Right Hand of Saint Thaddeus the Apostle, and relics associated with Noah’s Ark and the True Cross.

From Etchmiadzin, the atmosphere changes as the route continues to the 7th-century archaeological site of Zvartnots. Together with the churches and cathedral of Etchmiadzin, Zvartnots is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List and represents an exceptional chapter in the development of Armenian ecclesiastical architecture.

The final stop brings a completely different character to the day. At the ARARAT Museum, the story of Armenian brandy unfolds through its production traditions, ageing culture, and craftsmanship dating back to 1887. Depending on the selected program, the visit can conclude with a tasting of ARARAT brandies.
