Mount Dimats is one of the most impressive hiking destinations in northern Armenia. Located in Tavush Province within the Ijevan Mountains and the territory of Dilijan National Park, the summit rises to approximately 2,378 meters above sea level.
The mountain is particularly famous for its dramatic rocky cliffs and panoramic views across the Ijevan Mountains. Lower sections of the route pass through the forests of the Dilijan area, while higher elevations open into mountain meadows, pastures and exposed ridges.
One of the most striking features of Dimats is the contrast between the green highland meadows and the steep rocky walls of the surrounding mountains. In clear weather, the summit offers broad views across Tavush, while fog and low clouds can give the landscape an especially dramatic atmosphere.
Mount Dimats is also closely connected with several natural attractions in the surrounding area. Shaghot Waterfall lies east of the mountain, and hiking routes are often combined with forest waterfalls and the landscapes around Haghartsin.
The summit can be approached on hiking routes from the Haghartsin or Hovk areas. The hike is relatively long and demanding, requiring appropriate footwear, sufficient water and suitable weather conditions.
Mount Dimats is an excellent destination for hiking, adventure and photography tours. For photographers, its sheer cliffs, green meadows, forested valleys, changing clouds and wide mountain panoramas provide some of the most expressive natural landscapes in northern Armenia.
