We will travel from Yerevan to Aragatsotn Province to ascend Great Arteni. Starting near Arevut village, the hike crosses open mountain-steppe and rocky slopes toward the 2,047 m summit.
Great Arteni is a volcanic mountain listed among Armenia’s natural monuments. Traces of Paleolithic settlements and obsidian tools have been discovered in the surrounding area. Visits to these archaeological sites are not part of the itinerary.
We will rest and have time for photography at the summit. On a clear day, Mount Aragats and Mount Ararat can be seen from here. We will then descend along the same route to the trailhead and return to Yerevan by vehicle.
Estimated total tour duration: 9–10 hours.

7:30 AM — Departure from Yerevan for Aragatsotn Province.
We will drive to the hiking trailhead near Arevut village. From there, we will begin our ascent of Great Arteni across open mountain-steppe and, in places, rocky slopes.
The route is approximately 8 km long, with a total ascent of about 550 m. As we return from the summit to the same trailhead, the total descent is also approximately 550 m. The hike begins at about 1,500 m above sea level and reaches its highest point at the 2,047 m summit of Great Arteni. Walking time is approximately 4–5 hours. The difficulty is moderate.
We will rest and have time for photography at the summit. We will then descend to the trailhead.
After the hike, we will drive back to Yerevan.
Previous mountaineering experience is not required. However, participants should have a reasonable level of physical fitness. The route includes a sustained ascent, rocky terrain, and some steep sections, so participants should be prepared for several hours of hiking in mountainous terrain.
Participant safety is our priority. In the event of strong winds, precipitation, poor visibility, or other unfavorable weather conditions, the guide may modify the route, shorten certain sections, or stop the hike if necessary.
Reaching the summit cannot be guaranteed. The ascent depends on weather conditions, trail conditions, and the physical fitness of the participants. The guide may decide to stop the ascent if necessary for safety reasons.
