We will travel from Yerevan to Yenokavan in Tavush Province. Starting near Apaga Resort, we will follow a forest trail down into the Khachaghbyur River Gorge. Our hike leads to the Lastiver Caves and Waterfall.
Inside the caves, we will see images and reliefs carved into the rock. According to local accounts, the caves served as shelters for residents during the Middle Ages. We will then continue to the waterfall and visit the Lastiver Anapat recreation area, where tea or coffee will be served.
After a break, we will hike back up the same trail to the starting point and return to Yerevan.
Estimated total tour duration: 11–12 hours.

7:30 AM — Departure from Yerevan for Yenokavan.
We will arrive near Apaga Resort and begin our hike. Following a forest trail, we will descend into the Khachaghbyur Gorge toward the Lastiver Caves.
After visiting the caves, we will continue to the waterfall. We will then rest at the Lastiver Anapat recreation area and have tea or coffee.
The route is approximately 7 km long, from the starting point to Lastiver and back along the same trail. Total elevation gain and loss are approximately 330 m each. The starting and maximum elevation is about 1,350 m, and the minimum elevation is about 1,100 m above sea level. The difference between the highest and lowest points is about 250 m. Walking time is approximately 4–5 hours, and the difficulty is moderate. The route follows a forest trail that is uneven and rocky in places. Elevations are approximate and have been compared with published GPS tracks.
After our break, we will hike back up to the starting point. From there, we will return to Yerevan by vehicle.
Previous hiking experience is not required. However, participants should have a reasonable level of physical fitness and be comfortable walking for several hours on uneven and rocky trails. The return route includes a sustained uphill section.
Participant safety is our priority. In unfavorable weather conditions, the guide may modify the route, shorten certain sections, or stop the hike if necessary.
The itinerary includes visits to the Lastiver Caves and Waterfall. However, completing the entire route depends on weather conditions, trail conditions, and participant safety.
