The ARARAT Museum is one of Yerevan’s best-known cultural and industrial heritage attractions, presenting the history, traditions, and craftsmanship behind Armenian brandy. The museum is located inside the monumental Yerevan Brandy Company complex overlooking the Hrazdan Gorge.

The history of ARARAT brandy dates back to 1887, when Nerses and Vasily Tairyan established Armenia’s first brandy production. Over the following decades, Armenian brandy gained international recognition and gradually became one of the country’s best-known products.

The present Yerevan Brandy Company building was constructed between 1949 and 1952. Brandy production was transferred to the new complex in 1953. The main building was designed by architect Hovhannes Margaryan and constructed from red Armenian tuff, whose warm color visually recalls the amber tones of aged brandy.

The architectural complex combines monumental Soviet-era design with elements inspired by traditional Armenian architecture. Decorative reliefs, stone details, courtyards, production buildings, and its elevated position above the Hrazdan Gorge make the factory one of Yerevan’s recognizable architectural landmarks.

A visit to the ARARAT Museum introduces guests to the history of Armenian brandy production and the development of the ARARAT brand. The museum presents historical materials, production traditions, important personalities, and the different stages involved in creating and aging Armenian brandy.

During guided visits, guests can also enter parts of the working aging facilities, where brandy spirits mature in wooden barrels over many years. This provides an opportunity to see how traditional production methods continue within an active modern factory.

Museum tours normally conclude with a guided tasting experience presenting selected ARARAT brandies. Tour programs, tasting packages, prices, and availability may change, so current visitor information should be checked directly with the museum before visiting.

The location also offers an impressive view toward the historic Yerevan Brandy-Wine-Vodka Factory on the opposite side of the Hrazdan Gorge, creating one of the city’s distinctive industrial and architectural panoramas.

For photographers, the Yerevan Brandy Company is particularly interesting for its monumental red-tuff façade, symmetrical architecture, decorative stone details, elevated position, and views across the Hrazdan Gorge. Evening and golden-hour light can emphasize the warm tones of the building especially well.

The museum is located at 2 Admiral Isakov Avenue and is easily accessible from central Yerevan.
