About this activity

Last updated:

Mount Artanish is located in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia, on the peninsula of the same name along Lake Sevan. Rising to an elevation of 2,461 m, the mountain is known for its spectacular panoramic views, particularly the meeting point of Greater and Lesser Sevan.

The route starts near Shorzha and continues along grassy mountain slopes and alpine meadows toward the summit. During the ascent, beautiful views of Lake Sevan and the surrounding mountain ranges gradually unfold. At the summit, we will have time to rest and enjoy photography before descending toward the Artanish Peninsula and the shores of Lake Sevan.

This moderately challenging hike is suitable for participants who enjoy active travel and mountain trekking. Previous mountaineering experience is not required, but a reasonable level of physical fitness is necessary for several hours of hiking and elevation gain.

The route mainly passes through open mountain terrain. Weather conditions, particularly strong winds, rain, or snow, may affect the ascent and the possibility of reaching the summit. For safety reasons, the guide may change the route or schedule when necessary.
