Climbing the Southern Summit of Mount Aragats is one of Armenia’s most popular one-day mountain hikes. The route starts from the Lake Kari area and leads to the Southern Summit of Mount Aragats at an elevation of 3,887.8 m.
During the hike, we pass through open high-altitude terrain and rocky sections, gradually ascending toward the summit. In clear weather, beautiful panoramic views and characteristic high-mountain landscapes of Armenia open up along different parts of the route.
This hike is suitable for participants who enjoy active travel and mountain trekking. Previous mountaineering experience is not required, but a reasonable level of physical fitness is necessary for hiking at altitude, walking for several hours, and dealing with changing mountain weather.
Mountain weather can change quickly, even in summer. The route, schedule, and possibility of reaching the summit may change depending on weather conditions, trail conditions, and safety considerations.

Spare footwear in case the main shoes become wet or muddy, and to avoid bringing dirt into the vehicle

Descent to Lake Kari
Descent and return to the starting point of the hike.
Around 16:00 — Departure for Yerevan
Return to Yerevan after the hike.
